The nominees for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards have been announced and Kendrick Lamar is king.
The rapper racked up eight nominations including Video of the Year for “Humble.” Close behind are The Weeknd and Katy Perry, both snagging five nominations, while Rihanna landed three and Chance the Rapper earned two.
There’s also a new moon man up for grabs. The ceremony will award one artist with a trophy for Best Fight Against the System, an award honoring the artists who inspires fans to fight injustice.
The top three categories are set to be tough competition. Kendrick, Bruno Mars, and The Weeknd all face off for Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. And, the Best New Artist category sees SZA, Khalid and Young MA vying for the title.
