Keri Hilson is ready for her big comeback to the music scene!
The “Knock You Down” singer took to her Instagram on Monday to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of her successful first album In A Perfect World, while also surprising fans with the news that she plans on releasing new music this summer.
“Today marks 10 years since the release of my first studio album, In A Perfect World,” she wrote. “I didn’t mean to be gone so long, I only needed my real world to be perfect…it is now. Thank you for your patience. The wait is over.”
When Hilson dropped In A Perfect World a decade ago, the album becoming a career-defining record that debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Album Chart with guest appearances by Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Akon, Keyshia Cole, Ne-Yo, and Trina.
Hilson has released bits of music here and there since her 2010 album No Boys Allowed, but has generally shied away from releasing any project. She penned a letter to her fans last month, giving an explanation for why she stepped away from the music scene.
“My truth is, I’d love nothing more than to release this incredible music I’ve been ‘sitting on,’” Hilson began in the lengthy post. “There have been so many blockages I have constantly fought myself to not directly speak about.”
She explained that she had to release some toxic people from her life, all while growing within and for herself.
“I will emerge from this cocoon just as beautifully as I have overcome the other processes in my life that were designed to grow for me!” the singer concluded the post.
We are ready!
