If there’s one thing Kerry Washington knows, it’s drama. The Scandal star brings it as Olivia Pope, but now she’s set to produce her own series for ABC about female LAPD officers.
Variety reports that Washington’s Patrol is being developed for the network as part of the star’s overall deal with ABC, which she inked earlier this year. Washington will executive produce the series, which follows four female LAPD officers who attended the police academy together five years ago and are now forced to reconnect when a traumatic secret resurfaces.

The series will be under Washington’s production company Simpson Street, which was behind HBO’s hit Confirmation, where Washington plays Anita Hill. The actress has been focusing on doing more work behind the camera recently, telling reporters back in April, “I believe strongly in the importance of having a seat at the table which makes starting this production company thrilling for me. It’s an honor to be at a point in my career when I can help generate projects that that are exciting, necessary, and truly reflect the world around us.”
