After her star turn in the award-winning If Beale Street Could Talk, actress Kiki Layne already has her eye on next prize.
In a recent interview, ESSENCE’s February cover star said she’d love to play X-Men’s Storm, a role once brought to life by Halle Berry when the comic book was turned into a blockbuster film series in 2000.
“She was an image of myself, of a powerful chocolate Black woman, and I just think that’s an amazing image to have and I really want to play Storm,” Layne told Variety.
Alexandra Shipp took on the role as young Storm for 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, as well as in the upcoming Dark Phoenix set to hit theaters this summer. Still, Layne isn’t giving up.
“We are actively plotting, actively plotting,” she said of her managers and agents.
We can totally see it!
