Well, well, well, look who’s back.
Jay Ellis is set to reprise his role as Lawrence on HBO’s hit series Insecure for its fourth season and bonus, he’s set to direct an episode.
Ellis took to Instagram to share the news, posting a picture of the script and a card listing him as the director of season four’s seventh episode.
Last year, Issa Rae, who plays series lead Issa, confirmed that Lawrence would not appear in the show’s third season after the pair split during season two.
“They had a great conversation at the end of season two and it was just about like, hey, she’s moving on to Daniel,” Rae said. “You never see the exes again, and it’s okay! You gotta explore life without Lawrence.”
Ellis’s departure sparked a massive reaction from fans of the show, with some starting a petition to bring Lawrence back.
The actor didn’t share any further details about his appearance, leaving us to wonder what to expect from Lawrence’s return. Will Lawrence and Issa have an awkward run-in? Will the pair patch things up? Will they just become good friends? There are so many ways this could down.
No official premiere date has been announced but season four of Insecure is set to return next year.
