Lena Waithe
The multi-hyphenated talent has just been cast for a role in the upcoming third season of HBO’s Westworld. They have yet to announce details of her new role.
Waithe is taking on the new acting gig all while show-running her BET series adaptation of Boomerang and executive producing her Showtime series The Chi.
Also, in the works is a new dark comedy series for HBO with Kid Fury that will follow a 20-something gay Black man juggling adulthood and life in New York City as he struggles with depression; and a pilot ordered by TBS that will focus on a queer Black woman hanging out with her two straight best friends as they all work to make their dreams come true.
Westworld is set to return for a third season, although a date has not been set just yet.
Creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy told The Hollywood Reporter in August that fans should prepare for a “radical shift” in season three.
“The hosts have a different version of mortality, a different outlook,” Nolan told the publication. “I think clearly with Dolores, as she’s laid out, there is a longer view here, a larger set of goals. They’re existential. They span eons. And that’s a fascinating level of story to engage in.”
Congrats Lena Waithe!
