The headline-grabbing relationship between TLC’s Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes and former NFL star Andre Rison in the 90s will be the focus of a new Lifetime series.
In Hopelessly In Love, the network will give an in-depth look at celebrities who were in tumultuous high-profile relationships that we remember to this day.
“Featuring deeply emotional new interviews, and never-before-seen footage, each installment will be an impassioned journey through the intense ups and downs of a whirlwind romance that was lived in the limelight,” according to Lifetime’s website. “Untold secrets will be revealed on how these star-crossed lovers ended up facing the ultimate tragedy.”
The first episode will focus on Left-Eye and Rison, who dated in the early 90s.
“I was deeply in love. It was dope,” Rison says in the show’s trailer. “She came by the house and never left.”
Their relationship became infamous after Lopes decided to burn down their home after a chaotic fight. Because Rison was never a “one-woman man” the couple had major public spats that the tabloids ate up.
Despite the incident, the on-and-off couple overcame their struggles with plans to get married in the early 2000s. But sadly Left-Eye died in a Honduran car crash in 2002.
Hopelessly In Love will also feature the relationships between Faith Evans and Notorious B.I.G. and Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead.
Hopelessly in Love will premiere on January 4th, 2020 at 9:30 p.m EST. on Lifetime.
