Tidal announced Wednesday that this year’s philanthropic concert will support the fight for criminal justice reform across the United States. The concert series has raised $10 million for social justice causes, including disaster relief and education since its origin.
This year’s cause hits particularly to home for performer Meek Mill, who earlier this year was imprisoned for parole violations. His imprisonment sparked national outrage in the hip-hop community.
Tidal owner, Jay-Z, even penned an opinion piece in the New York Times advocating for the rapper’s release, and Beyoncé immortalized the phrase “Free Meek” in her verse on the summer hit “Top Off.”
Can’t make it to the Empire State? Don’t worry! The global music and entertainment streaming platform will be live streaming the show so you can get a clear view of all of your favs on your overpriced iPhone XS — the way Hov and Steve Jobs intended.
