Lil Wayneโs long-awaited new album is finally here, and like us โ fans are ecstatic.
Lil Wayne first teased Tha Carter V back in July 2012, suggesting that it would โmost likelyโ arrive in 2013. Five years passed us by โ and finally, here we are.
The album, which was delayed due to numerous legal battles and feuds with Birdman, features appearances by Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, and the late XXXTentacion. His daughter Regina Carter even joins him on a track called, โFamous.โ
According to multiple reports, Lil Wayne sued Cash Money in January 2015 for a reported $51 million and asked the judge to end his contract with the label. Then, in summer 2017, Wayne revamped his legal battle against Cash Money, requesting the ability to release Tha Carter V in an amended lawsuit petition. Finally, in May 2018 Wayne settled his suit against Cash Money, allowing Universal to release Tha Carter V.
As far as itsโ sound, Swizz Beatz and Dr. Dre are among the producers credited on the album, so you know itโs a banger. I mean, thereโs also a sample of Barack Obama, so thatโs enough to have us sold.
Have you gotten the album yet? We have.
