Dear White People was a hilariously informative film addressing the racial stereotypes often present on college campuses and now the new Netflix series of the same name is adding a few familiar faces to the cast.
The crtically acclaimed film’s writer Justin Simien will also put his pen skills to work for the series, which recently announced the addition of Hit The Floor star Logan Browning and actor Troy Fairbanks to the cast. Browning will play the role of Samantha White, a bi-racial film major at the predominantly white Winchester Unviversity who also serves as the voice of the controversial campus radio station and finds herself at a crossroads when a group of Black student activists tap her to lead their campus movement. Fairbanks will reprise his role from the film as the son of the dean of students who has his sights set on becoming the university’s first Black student president.
According to Deadline, Yvette Lee Bowser (Black-ish) will executive produce the series, alongside Dear White People alums Stephanie Allain Bray and Julia Bedev. The series is slated to include ten 30-minute episodes and is set to premiere on Netflix in 2017.
