A Malcolm X television series is in the works with the producer behind HBO’s Vinyl set to pen the adaptation.
Based on Manning Marable’s Pulitzer Prize-winning biography Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention, the series is set to be penned by Vinyl producer and Boardwalk Empire writer David Matthews.
Marable’s book is considered the ultimate Malcolm X biography, which reveals previously unknown details about the activist’s journey to becoming one of America’s most well-regarded Civil Rights leaders.
Currently in the early stages of development, the Malcolm X series has no filmmaker at the helm, but according to Deadline, the creative team is searching for the right person to bring Malcolm’s story to television.
Malcolm X continues to inspire activists everywhere and the series is quite timely. Hopefully, it lives up to the man.
