Caution marks Carey’s first album since her 2014 project, Mariah Carey Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse. Since its release, the singer has been increasingly open about her struggle with mental illness. Back in April, Carey admitted she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder 2001, but was in denial about her prognosis, which ultimately affected her career. “For a long time I thought I had a severe sleep disorder,” she told People. “But it wasn’t normal insomnia and I wasn’t lying awake counting sheep.” “I was working and working and working … I was irritable and in constant fear of letting people down. It turns out that I was experiencing a form of mania,” Carey explained. After getting the proper treatment, Carey said she’s “in a really good place right now,” which shows in her music. So far, Carey has put out two singles ahead of Caution’s release — “GTFO,” an airy mid tempo track, and “With You,” a sultry ballad full of vintage Mimi vibes. Both have racked up millions of views on YouTube as fans are excited about her new project. And if the first two songs are any indication of what we can expect from Caution, it looks like it’s going to be good.CAUTION 🔥 NOVEMBER 16 pic.twitter.com/uZahorDGdZ
