Meghan Markle reportedly hopped on a plane for a last-minute trip to New York for the U.S. Open to cheer on our September issue cover star sets out to take home her 24th Grand Slam title, which would tie her with Margaret Court for most Grand Slam titles of all-time.
Williams’s win on Thursday tied her with Chris Evert’s record of 101 career victories at the U.S. Open, which she could break this weekend and maybe Markle will be just the lucky charm she needs.
The Duchess of Sussex flew solo for the trip and a source told The Times that Markle is “excited to support her friend.”
Markle will return to the U.K. after the match and prepare for a tour of South Africa with hubby Prince Harry and their son Archie.
