Award-winning actor Michael K. Williams is embarking on a layered journey of family discovery in the latest episode of the exploratory PBS series, Finding Your Roots.
Appropriately titled “Mystery Men,” the episode follows Williams and actress Felicity Huffman on their individual quests to learn more about the family ties they have to the fathers they knew little about. For Williams, who was raised primarily by his mother in his hometown of Brooklyn, the journey traces his family history back to the 1800s.
In the exclusive clip above, we see the 52-year-old father sit down with host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. to learn about his second great-grandfather and how he registered to vote for the first time just three years after slavery was abolished, before later establishing a family farm that is still owned by the Williams family today.
