A new documentary on
legendary musician Miles Davis finally made it’s highly-anticipated premiere last weekend at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
Appropriately titled
Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, the 2-hour film takes a look at Miles’ life through the lens of film director, Stanley Nelson.
While on site at the festival, ESSENCE caught up with Nelson, as well as Miles Davis’ son Erin Davis, Miles Davis’ nephew/fellow musician Vince Wilburn for a quick chat about what audiences can expect to learn that they might not already know, connecting with some of the original members of Miles’ band for the documentary and more.
Check out the video clip above to hear what they had to say and be sure to head back over to ESSENCE.com for more of our 2019
Sundance Film Festival coverage.
