Get ready Vegas, Mo’Nique is on her way!
The comedian announced on her Instagram that she will be starting a residency at the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas in January 2019.
“Getting ready for my residency in Las Vegas at SLS hotel. Starting January 10, 2019,” she captioned a video of herself slaying it at a photoshoot.
“Ohhhhh baby,” she added. “Let’s laugh out loud together. Love y’all 2 life.”
Earlier this year, the comedian asked fans to boycott Netflix for alleged racial and gender bias after the streaming giant offered her $500,000 for a comedy special. Mo’Nique felt the amount was disrespectfully low, particularly compared to the multi-million dollar contracts between Netflix and fellow stand-up acts like Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Amy Schumer.
“I couldn’t accept that low offer, because if I did … I couldn’t sleep at night,” she said back in January. “If I accepted $500,000, what does Tiffany Haddish have coming? If I accept that, what does the black female comedian have coming? Because what they’ll say is, ‘Mo’Nique accepted this and she’s got that.’ So what do they have coming?”
We are glad to see Mo’Nique on stage again! Will you be going to see her in Vegas?
