Morris Chestnut and Best Man director Malcolm D. Lee took a quick break from the American Black Film Festival to give some insight on what fans can expect in the Best Man trilogy.
Chestnut, star of the film and this year’s ABFF celebrity ambassador, had a few things to say about the pending sequel telling Vibe that it will probably be the best one yet; “It will probably be the funniest of them all. It’s gonna have a lot of twists and turns.”
Lee chimed in saying, “It’s going to be some romance, there’ll be some sex there’s going to be a wedding and theres going to be a distant location.”
Chestnut shared his enthusiasm about having some more fun with his role, “I’m excited because you know the last movie I was kind of upset throughout the whole movie and very emotional so Malcolm promised me this movie is going to be completely different for me so I’m looking forward to that.”
Lee reassured us that Chestnut’s role will be much lighter in the pending trilogy. “You don’t just get over the death of your life mate, your soul partner so he is going to be sad but we’ll feel sad for him in a very different way,” said Lee. “This is going to be one of Morris Chestnut funniest roles.”
Although Chestnut says that he is hoping production will start within the next six months, Lee clarified the stage of the process saying that the script is not quite in the hands of the studio yet, but confirmed that the trilogy is indeed coming.
