Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is known for her biting one-liners that often leave her castmates fuming, and fans cracking up. But back in June, the 50-year-old entertainer dropped some news about her husband, Greg Leakes, that was far from a laughing matter.
Leakes announced her hubby had been diagnosed with cancer after he spent 16 days in the hospital. While the couple has kept his exact prognosis under wraps, from the very beginning the reality star said they were going to fight. Now, Leakes is opening up about how Greg’s disease has affected their marriage.
“Cancer has changed our lives,” Leakes posted on Instagram over the weekend.
“CANCER! I know many of you can relate and understand! This word will never be easy to hear for me! It changed my life in so many ways,” she continued.
Since Greg was diagnosed with the disease, the couple has made substantial changes to their life, including switching up how they eat. In July, Leakes said she became a pescatarian, while her husband had transitioned to veganism.
In her recent Instagram post Leakes discussed the evolution of the couple’s marriage since they got the harrowing news about Greg’s health.
“My marriage changed tremendously! The way I look at people around me and my approach for my family future,” she explained.
But change isn’t always good. While she insisted that Greg is doing well, the RHOA star also shared that cancer had taken a toll on their lives.
“With all this change happening, I’ve felt lost and alone not to mention the roller coaster of feelings my hubby Gregg has had!” she wrote. “He’s definitely felt isolated from the rest of the world, mad, sad, depressed and left with asking why me! BUT GOD.”
Fans will have to wait until November 4 to find out exactly what Nene means when Real Housewives of Atlanta returns to Bravo!
