Nicki Minaj is apologizing for her retirement announcement earlier this week that sent a panic through her fanbase .
The barbs were not amused when the rapper took to Twitter on Thursday to announce she would be retiring to focus on building a family.
“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me.” The later part of the rap queen’s Tweet references her lyrics on the remix of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire.”
But it took just a day for her to rethink her decision.
“I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that,” she tweeted Friday in response to a fan’s plea.
“In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe.”
She also promised that she’d discuss it on her Queen Radio show.
Minaj’s surprise announcement came just weeks after the rapper confirmed on Queen Radio that she and fiancé Kenneth Petty plan to tie the knot very soon.
“We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” she explained. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”
The two plan to have an intimate ceremony with family and friends.
Fans, of course, will be gutted that Minaj is stepping away from music but the rapper has given us an entire discography of hits that we will likely replay until the end of time.
