The trailer for the latest Bond film has arrived and Captain Marvel‘s Lashana Lynch is making her debut as an agent.
In the No Time To Die trailer, Daniel Craig’s James Bond leaves his tranquil life in Jamaica to help a friend who’s up against the CIA, Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright). His new mission leads to run-ins with old friends and clashes with a new agent, played by Lynch. Rami Malek also plays a mysterious villain with dangerous new technology that could upend the world. The nearly three-minute trailer also gives fans glimpses of Naomie Harris, who plays M’s assistant.
The film, directed by Beasts of No Nation‘s Cary Joji Fukunaga, is set to be released April 2020.
It was announced over the summer that Lynch would be joining the Bond franchise, with her character and story arc kept under wraps. But she did give ESSENCE on clue.
Lynch began filming Bond 25 in Jamaica, where the London-born actress has family connections.
“I’m still figuring her out so I’m not sure how much the culture will be embedded in her,” she tells ESSENCE of her character. “The Jamaican energy is undeniable so no matter what…she would still radiate the energy of Jamaica.”
Lynch made waves earlier this year as Maria Rambeau, best friend of Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. She’s also set to next appear in the British sci-fi thriller The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud, which just wrapped production.
