The year is winding down, but a few artists have gifted us with a little cheer (read: new music to jam to!) over the holidays. Santa may not have given you everything you wanted, but it seems he did deliver a few good singles this week.
Two Oakland icons teamed up for a new track, Tennessee rapper Bbymutha dropped a new mixtape, and Drake dabbled in U.K. drill.
Kehlani – “All Me” ft. Keyshia Cole
Oakland’s finest—Kehlani and Keyshia Cole—teamed up for “All Me,” a shimmering single produced by ReeceBeats.
Kehlani had previously shared a snippet of the song, which caused quite a stir among her fans. The singer later tweeted, “I’ve never had a song hype like this before it dropped. I’ve never had this much energy for a musical release! This is so incredible. I just wanna say thank you, this is some really epic shit.”
Arin Ray – Phases II
Rising star Arin Ray’s recent EP, Phases II, has been in rotation on our playlist since its release earlier this month.
The follow-up to Phases, released in 2016, Phases II continues to show Ray’s growth with singles we love, including “A Seat,” “Don’t Chase,” and “Change,” featuring Kehlani.
Burna Boy – “Money Play”
The year could not end without another hit from Burna Boy. Produced by Mr. Kleb, “Money Play” comes after his Grammy-nominated album, African Giant, and is a celebration of his recent success.
Drake – “War”
Yes, Drake does sound a bit like Skepta on his latest track, “War.” The Canadian rapper is dabbling in Grime, rapping about his beef with The Weeknd over a “soft tempo drill beat.”
At this point, it’s hard to say who Drake will be when he releases any music, but it’s always fun to guess. The rapper said he wanted to drop new music ahead of being named rapper of the decade by popular Tidal podcast, Rap Radar.
Tyler, The Creator – “Group B”
Tyler, the Creator is back with new music following the release of IGOR, which dropped earlier this year.
The rapper shared two new songs this week, “Group B” and “Best Interest.” The latter is a “song that didn’t make IGOR,” while “Group B” is a “random song from last week has nothing to do with IGOR,” he explained.
Bbymutha – The Bastard Tapes Vol. 2
If this Tennessee rapper hadn’t been on your radar, then it’s about time you start paying attention.
Chattanooga rapper Bbymutha is ending 2019 with a bang, dropping her latest mixtape The Bastard Tapes Vol. 2.
With bass-heavy production and an enviable flow, Bbymutha is poised to be the rapper we’re all talking about in 2020.
