Teyana Taylor‘s new single is a celebration of Black love and all it represents, and that’s not the only thing we’re grooving to from this week’s playlist.
Lumidee got us in the Christmas spirit with her new single, “Slay Ride,” and Dai Burger returned with a new album and an assist from Cakes Da Killa.
Buju Banton and Rico Nasty also shared new videos and a soulful newcomer from Philly rounded out the list.
Teyana Taylor – “We Got Love”
It’s all about love on Teyana Taylor’s new single, which celebrates Black love, self-love, and all forms of love.
Produced by Kanye West, the track includes a reference to the Obamas and a lyric that pushes others to believe in the power of Black love.
“We Got Love” is a triumphant single from Taylor’s forthcoming project, The Album, slated for release in 2020.
Rico Nasty – “Hard”
We know Rico Nasty goes hard, but do you?
The rapper’s new single “Hard” doubles down on what we already know as Rico bounces around a hotel room surrounded by stacks of pancakes, and cruises around in a purple Lamborghini in a video directed by Reel Goats.
Who goes harder?
Lumidee – “Slay Ride”
If you’re not yet in the Christmas spirit, Lumidee’s “Slay Ride” will help.
The fun-filled video is all about family. The singer hosts a potluck-style holiday dinner as we get a glimpse of a New York winter.
Inspired to write her own Christmas song after idolizing Mariah Carey “since forever,” Lumidee joked in a statement, “There’s always some room for friendly competition.”
Buju Banton – “Trust”
Reggae star Buju Banton, who’s fresh from his new partnership with Roc Nation, just dropped the video for his new single “Trust,” directed by Kieran Khan. It also features moves from famed choreographer Tanisha Scott. The single follows his recent single “Steppa.”
Dai Burger – “Flame Emoji” ft. Cakes Da Killa
Queens rapper Dai Burger teams up with Cakes Da Killa for “Flame Emoji,” a single that sees the pair flaunting just how hot they are with a psychedelic, colorful video, featuring emojis.
The single is off her new LP, Bite the Burger, which features siren-filled single “Salty” and “The Function,” perfect for a night at the club.
Doug C Jr. – “Why Would I Lie?”
Philly’s Doug C Jr. is attracting attention with his soulful new single “Why Would I Lie?”
The video, directed by ShizzieWho, sees the crooner enjoying a slow day in with his lover as they dance, sleep, and enjoy their time alone.
Doug say the single is about “the beauty and uncertainty of love. Trust and reassurance are paramount.”
