Jamila Woods – “Baldwin”
Chicago singer-songwriter Jamila Woods released the video for “Baldwin” this week, paying homage to activist and writer James Baldwin. The video, directed by Vincent Martell, kicks off with a quote from the writer, “Your crown has been bought and paid for. All you have to do is put it on your head.”

Whitney Houston & Kygo – “Higher Love”
DJ and producer Kygo has remixed an old recording of Whitney Houston covering Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love.” Hearing Houston’s amazing voice on the new release will send shivers down your spine.

serpentwithfeet – “Receipts” feat. Ty Dolla $ign
Genre-bending artist serpentwithfeet has teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign for his latest single, “Receipts.” Sharing the new song on Twitter, the artist wrote, “I [want to] thank @tydollasign for being one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I moved to LA one year ago & he’s made me feel so welcome here. he has truly become a big brother to me & ‘Receipts’ is a certificate of this fraternity.”

Brittany Howard – “History Repeats”
Brittany Howard, lead vocalist and guitarist for the Grammy-winning band Alabama Shakes, is set to release her debut solo album, Jaime. The first single from her forthcoming album, “History Repeats,” is described as a personal song that’s as much “about us as a human species.”

R&B singer H.E.R. continues to make waves, this time teaming up with rapper YBN Cordae for “Racks.” The smooth new song is a reminder that money can buy a lot of things but it can’t buy you love.
