The cast of the popular Starz drama, Power, remembered Pedro Jimenez, a 63-year-old production assistant who was fatally struck by a vehicle while on the show’s Brooklyn set.
Production on the show’s upcoming sixth season was suspended Monday as a result of his death.
50 Cent posted a blacked out image on his Instagram page, suspending his usual jokes for a somber and respectful message honoring Jimenez .
“I just learned we lost Pedro Jimenez, a member of the Power production team early this morning,” he wrote in a caption. “My prayers and condolences are with the entire Jimenez family.”
Naturi Naughton, who plays the series’ matriarch Tasha St. Patrick, said she was stunned by the sudden accident.
“Truly shocked and saddened! Losing one of our own really hit home today! Tomorrow is not promised ya’ll! Live fully today! My thoughts and prayers are with the Jimenez family,” she wrote in a caption on Instagram, adding the hashtags, #speechless and #prayersup.
Joseph Sikora, who plays Tommy on the hit series, reminisced on the joy Jimenez brought to everyone involved with the production.
“Pedro Jimenez, a member of the Power family, lost his life today. Thank you for always having a smile and bringing so much love with you to set. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family,” he wrote beneath an image of an iridescent background.
It’s still unclear how long the production shut down will last, but the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
We’re praying for Jimenez’s family and loved ones.
