Rejoice! Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar has been renewed for a third season.
The popular OWN series debuted its second season back in June, earning incredible ratings in the adult and female demo. The series averages more than 2.4 million viewers with fans taking to Twitter with great commentary on each episode.
Along with the renewal, DuVernay has expanded her creative partnership with Oprah Winfrey via a first-look deal with Harpo Films for television and digital. A match made in heaven and a deal that will mean more fantastic content from DuVernay and Winfrey.
The news of the show’s renewal arrives Wednesday, just as a new episode of Queen Sugar is set to drop.
Tension is building and — SPOILER ALERT — after last Wednesday’s ending, which included the revelation that their father, Ernest Bordelon, left the farm to Ralph, not all three siblings, things are going to get intense.
In the clip, Darla, who’s just started working as Charley’s assistant, is caught in the middle as Ralph begs her not to leave.
There’s also the sticky situation between Charley and Ben, the nosy reporter.
Thankfully, no matter where this season goes, fans have another to look forward to and more twists and turns from the Bordelons.
