Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis will be joining the Johnsons this season on ABC’s Black-ish.Deadline reports that the 15-year-old actress and author will be taking on her first television role as a recurring guest star on the show’s fifth season. Reportedly, she will be playing a younger cousin of the show’s main character Andre Johnson named Kyra, who moves in with the Johnson family when her home life becomes unstable.
The first of her recurring appearances onBlack-ish will air in 2019.
Wallis announced how overjoyed she was about her appearance to her 28,000 Instagram followers.
“WE LITTTTTTT,” she wrote in the caption for a screenshot of the news she posted. “I can’t wait for y’all to see.”
Wallis became the youngest person to ever receive a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2012 for her role as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild. She also played the lead in the 2014 remake of Annie, and also appeared in 12 Years a Slave, Lucy, and Beyoncé’s visual album, Lemonade.
Now that the original children on the show are growing up, a new addition could be the perfect thing to keep Andre and Rainbow on their parenting A-game.
