May the force be with Lupita.
Sources say that the Academy-Award winner Lupita Nyong’o is out for the female lead part in Star Wars: Episode VII.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the star’s name has come up in connection to Star Wars after she met with producer J.J. Abrams just before the Oscar ceremony.
The casting of Star Wars has been a huge secret with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars rumored to be involved with the project, including Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan. Although there is very little clarity about exactly what role she would play, Hollywood’s current It girl definitely has everyone’s attention.
The news of a possible Star Wars role comes just as writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie hinted that there might be a collaboration between herself and Nyong’o in the cards. “I’m going to do the mysterious thing and say that Lupita might be making an announcement very soon,” Adichie teased. “I don’t know. That announcement might be about Americanah.”
Fans will just have to wait and see what Lupita has on her plate next. We’re sure she won’t keep us waiting for too long.
