After the success of the animated film Home, Rihanna is ready to display more of her acting chops again — this time for the small screen.
The Bajan beauty has been tapped to play the iconic Marion Crane in the final season of A&E’s hit Psycho prequel series Bates Motel. The cast and crew announced the news during a session at Comic-Con on Friday. Executive producers Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse said they had heard Rihanna was a fan of the series based on Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic, adding that casting her was the the “perfect collision of creativity and fate.” In the original, Janet Leigh played the ill-fated character that famously meets her end in the shower.
Rihanna, who is on the European leg of her “Anti” world tour, last voiced that character “Tip” in the cartoon movie Home, raking in $386 million worldwide. She was also in Battleship and This is the End.
We’re looking forward to seeing what Ms. Fenty does with the iconic role.
