It looks like comedian Robin Thede will be making a comeback to a TV screen near you!
According to Deadline, ABC is developing an untitled comedy series created, written, executive produced by and starring Thede.
The former host of The Rundown with Robin Thede will base the series on her childhood growing up dirt poor in a trailer park. Her character, Robin Sanders, grows up to become a famous and successful financial advisor, but the show will explore how her childhood shapes her life as an adult.
Kay Cannon, Doug Robinson and Alison Greenspan are exec producers alongside Thede and her producing partner, Lavern McKinnon.
“YOUR GIRL IS BACK!,” Thede said in a tweet announcing the good news. “I’m so honored to be working with this team of legendary producers, Sony and ABC! This story is a (hilarious) love letter to my family! SO HAPPY!”

Thede changed the late-night TV landscape last October when she became only African-American late-night host with her BET show The Rundown With Robin Thede. The network, however, decided to go a different direction when they canceled the show this summer.
She was previously the head writer on Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore.
We can’t wait to see the new show!
