Roseanne Barr is back with another attempt to defend herself against the backlash from the racist tweet she wrote about former White House advisor Valerie Jarrett that got her ABC Roseanne reboot canceled — and she is doing herself no favors.
In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel, Roseanne tells the interviewer that she thought Valerie was White. Looking overly stressed and agitated, she is arguing with a producer when she brings up the tweet in which she likened Jarrett, a Black former advisor to Barack Obama, to an “ape.”
“I’m trying to talk about Iran! I’m trying to talk about Valerie Jarrett about the Iran deal. That’s what my tweet was about,” Barr screamed in the video.
“I thought the bitch was White!” she said, getting even louder. “Goddamnit, I thought the bitch was White. F—!”
In a now-deleted tweet, Barr said Jarrett looked as if the “Muslim Brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.”
The comedian, who has since been fired from her show, issued an apology once her horrible comments began spreading across social media.
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” she tweeted. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
