Nostalgia of the ’90s is back in more ways than just fashion. Hip-hop fans are now getting the opportunity to see artists of the golden age perform on massive tours. And the latest are the Ruff Ryders who will hit the road in September.
DMX, Eve, Swizz Beatz, The Lox, Drag-On and special guest Fat Joe (in select cities) will hit the stage performing their greatest hits like “What Ya Want” and “Down Bottom” from Sept 7-30. The reunion is to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the record label founded in Yonkers, NY.
Eve —who was brought to the label by DMX at age 18— toured with Gwen Stefani in 2016, but her greatest days of touring were with her Ruff Ryders crew back in the day.
“Ruff Ryders days were always crazy and amazing and incredible,” Eve told Vice. “I always say Ruff Ryders was hip-hop boot camp. I had to be better than dudes that were writing in the studio every night, if not equal. If we had a battle in Harlem on the corner, I had to kill it. If it was a battle in the studio, I had to kill it. There were a lot of battles! It was a battle for your life, seriously.”
Adding, “But I loved it. Ruff Ryders are going to be family forever. If it weren’t for Ruff Ryders, I wouldn’t be where I am now.”
Tickets for the 20th Anniversary Ruff Ryders’ Tour are available Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m. EST.
