Sade is back with new music and a lyric video for the upcoming Steve McQueen directed thriller Widows.
The song, which is called “The Big Unknown” was dropped on Friday with little promotion.
“It was an honor to work with such a legend,” McQueen said in a statement to Rolling Stone.
“Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material, but luckily the original series of Widows had deeply resonated with her.”
Sade previously contributed to the soundtrack for the Ava DuVernay-directed movieA Wrinkle in Time with the song “Flower Of The Universe.”
In July, one of the singer’s collaborators announced that the wait for a new album might soon come to an end.
“We’re working on a new album,” Stuart Matthewman, a songwriter and original member of Sade’s band, told Rated R&B.
Since her 1984 debut Diamond Life, Sade has released six studio albums that have sold more than 20 million copies and garnered the singer four Grammy Awards.
Sade is known for churning out music at her own pace. She regularly takes long breaks between projects — her last album, Soldier of Love, was released eight years ago — and rarely pops up on the scene.
