Amid releasing new music with the “A Wrinkle In Time” soundtrack and rumors of a new album, Sade will be dropping a new song for the soundtrack of director Steve McQueen’s upcoming movie.According to the Los Angeles Times, the very private singer will release a song called “The Big Unknown” as part of the soundtrack of the highly anticipated McQueen flick Widows. “It was an honor to work with such a legend. Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material,” said McQueen in a statement, “but luckily the original series of ‘Widows’ had deeply resonated with her.”The film, debuting this week at the Toronto Film Festival, has an all-star cast that includes Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo, Carrie Coon, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, Colin Farrell, Jacki Weaver, Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson. It is McQueen’s first film since his Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave in 2013.In February, Ava DuVernay informed fans that Sade had created an original song for her film “A Wrinkle In Time.” “I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway,” DuVernay said of the elusive singer. “She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget.”In July, one of the singer’s collaborators said in an interview that the wait for a new album might soon come to an end.“We’re working on a new album,” Stuart Matthewman, a songwriter and original member of Sade’s band, told Rated R&B noting the group has “a bunch of songs” fans will love.
