VH1 has announced its plans to completely change the network’s longest-running franchises.
According to Deadline, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and Basketball Wives will be taken over by new production companies in an effort to bring fresh storylines and cast members.
The original production companies, Eastern TV and Shed Media USA respectively, will no longer be involved with those franchises.
Eastern TV, however, will still be involved with Love & Hip Hop: New York, Love & Hip Hop: Miami and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Mona Scott-Young and her company Monami Entertainment will remain on all versions of the Love & Hip Hop franchise.
It is not clear if Shaunie O’Neal, who created the Basketball Wives franchise, will still be involved.
VH1 is already inviting other production companies to pitch their ideas.
Either way, we are glad to see our guilty pleasures will still be around for seasons to come.
