Tony Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is returning to Broadway with a bang and making history in the process.
The talented actress and star of Broadway’s original Dreamgirls production made her debut as Madame Morrible in the winter run of Wicked, one of Broadway’s longest running and most classic productions, on Tuesday. Raplh is the first African-American actress to star in the role.
Ralph spoke on her exciting return to the stage during a recent interview with The Tom Joyner Morning Show, opening up about the proud feeling of being a part of a production that’s rooted in longevity. “It’s so nice to be in a show that’s living forever,” Ralph says.

“We like to break that creative glass ceiling. This time they looked at the character and they cast the talent.”
