Gladiators, put away the red wine because Shonda Rhimes has some sobering news for us. The showrunner says she knows when and how our favorite Thursday TV obsession will end. And it could be soon. Or not. In an interview with NPR’s Morning Edition, Rhimes said she feels like there is a “finite amount of Scandal to be told.”
“I know what the end of Scandal will be, and I feel really good about that,” she continued. “I can see where the end point is. And I don’t think I’m going to change that. … I know how long I think it will be. But we’ll see.”
In a bit of a reprieve (for us), Rhimes adds that once upon a time she also felt the same way about Grey’s Anatomy. But she kept it going. “I knew the end,” she said, “and then we kept going, so that I finally just had to write that and move past it.”
“Who knows, at this point, how long that show’s going to go? It’s going to go as long as I feel interested in what happens to those characters.”
