A powerful new docuseries is on its way to cable just in time for the upcoming presidential elections.
Deadline Hollywood reports that primetime frontrunner Shonda Rhimes is teaming up with Norman Lear, who produced series like Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons, to create America Divided, a new Epix docuseries executive produced by Common that explores the inequality within America.

“Epix is committed to presenting thought-provoking documentaries that deal head-on with hot-button topics that affect our society,” Epix CEO Mark S. Greenberg said in a statement. “America Divided is a nonpartisan investigation of the key issues shaping the presidential campaign, and we are confident our viewers will find each episode compelling and accessible.”
The two masterminds will be getting help from some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Common, America Ferrera and Amy Poehler, who have all signed on to produce documentaries for the series.
Keep an eye out for it when it debuts sometime this fall!
