Shonda Rhimes will open up about her struggles being a single mother running three mega successful TV shows in the pages of a new memoir.
The Scandal creator will indeed publish her first book in 2015, said publisher Simon and Schuster. The work will serve as “part memoir, part inspiration, part prescription.”
Rhimes, the mother of three adopted daughters, says she’s not sure she’s the best person to receive advice from. “Simon and Schuster is crazy for giving me a book deal, as I am clearly in no position to be handing out wisdom,” she said in a statement.
Acknowledging she’s not perfect when it comes to juggling her family and demanding career, Rhimes hopes this book doesn’t bite her in the rear end down the line. “I’ve made a lot of mistakes as a single mother, and as a working mother, and as a sleepless mother, and as a dating mother,” said Rhimes. “And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I’m going to write about that and hope my kids don’t use it against me in therapy later.”
In between now and the release of her book, Rhimes has tons to keep her busy. In addition to working on the film, War Correspondents, she’s working on a few new shows for ABC including the crime drama Lawless.
