Showtime At The Apollo has been off the air for the last eight years, but now it’s back with two upcoming specials.
Fox announced the return of the long-running variety show with a two-hour special hosted by Steve Harvey on Dec. 5, Deadline reports. He will host another special on Fox in 2017.
The reboot will include performances from already established stars. But producers are sure to include elements of the theater’s signature “Amateur Night” event, which launched the careers of James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, and even Harvey – the show’s host from 1993-2000.

“I’m excited to be going back home to the Apollo to celebrate the history of this great theater,” said Harvey. “I have great memories from my time there, and this is going to be a homecoming party that you won’t want to miss.”
Since its initial television launch in 1987, the show enjoyed a 21-year syndicated run that ended in 2008. The show at the Apollo, however, has been running strong for 82 years.
The revival comes to Fox at a time when shows like American Idol have recently gone off the air, but NBC’s The Voice continues to bring in high ratings.
