If you’ve been sleeping on alternative R&B songstress Mereba, it’s high time you woke up, and her latest single is more than enough to get your attention.
Taking a quick pause from rocking stages across the country as the opening act on fellow starlet Snoh Aalegra’s FEELS tour, the Philly-based Ethiopian beauty is venturing back to the airwaves with a new single titled, “Planet U.” The slow, melodic tune hears the 28-year-old vocalist describe the feeling of being enamored with a new lover and wondering how he landed on her radar.
“Lover, where did you come from,” she sings. “I wanna go to, the planet, from where you, landed….”
Mid-way through the song, Mereba kicks things up notch as she switches up her style to deliver an impressive rap verse, before ultimately transitioning back into the song’s intoxicating melody with her signature, sultry vocals.
The track is the latest offering from the songstress following the July release of the music video for her single “Black Truck,” which is currently at 67k views and climbing on YouTube. Take a listen to “Planet U” above.
