Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara has reportedly met with NBC and British production company Fremantle about possibly becoming a judge on America’s Got Talent just weeks after Gabrielle Union’s controversial firing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is looking to fill two empty seats on the show after Union and TV personality Julianne Hough were fired from the reality competition series.
Union was let go from the show in November after complaining about the show’s toxic culture and being told, among other complaints, that her hairstyles were “too Black.“
SAG-AFTRA, a union that advocates for actors and TV personalities, has launched an investigation into Union’s firing and the environment on the show. NBC later followed suit, adding that “there will be a further investigation to get a deeper understanding of the facts.”
Vergara is also rumored to be in talks with NBC about other projects while the network continues to look for new judges to join Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel on the series.
