In a performance that only she could pull off, Solange took over the stage on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to deliver a more than nine-minute performance that included a variety of songs from her latest album, When I Get Home.
Sol-Angel, along with two background vocalists, a live band, and a handful of dancers who took to white steps in the background, performed songs, including “Taking on the Light,” “Things I Imagined,” “Down with the Clique,” “Binz” and “Almeda.”
The performance, her label told ESSENCE in a statement, was to celebrate the release of the director’s cut of the When I Get Home film, being released next week.
Ahead of her performance, Solange thanked host Jimmy Fallon “for this time to shiiiine.”
Solange’s music peers praised her performance in social media comments, with Anderson .Paak writing, “Well break the damn internet then!!!”
While actress Zoe Kravitz wrote, “Yes!!!!,” SZA added, “Spicy.”
