Just like her name, Storm Reid, continues taking Hollywood by storm.
The actress starred in Ava Duvernay’s A Wrinkle in Time and now appears as Zendaya’s little sister on HBO’s Euphoria. Now Reid’s adding a little #BlackGirlMagic to the heavy-hitting sequel cast of The Suicide Squad.
Storm Reid — who recently celebrated her sweet 16 — will play the daughter of Idris Elba’s character, who, from what we know so far, will not be playing Deadshot, the role previously played by Will Smith. While that character is under wraps, we can’t wait to see the on screen bond shared by this father-daughter duo.
The new movie is being directed by James Gunn; returning cast members include Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and the incomparable Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
Although the film will not hits theaters until August 2021, thankfully we can still watch Reid on Euphoria or rewatch her as Korey Wise’s teenage love in the moving When They See Us.
On working with Ava DuVernay for the second time in the Central Park Five (now Exonerated Five) drama—that has been streamed by over 23 million Netflix accounts—Reid told ESSENCE in June, “Working with Ms. Ava is incredible. She’s so brilliant.”
