From the onset of Summer Walker’s five-track EP Life On Earth, it’s evident it is a harmonious follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut album Over It. Walker has a sound—emo vibe music born in the Sza era—that deeply resonates with her fans.
Much of her allure lies in her mystique and the rich tone of her voice. She thrives over acoustic beats and deep R&B tracks like “Let It Go,” on which she bares her soul sharing “I ain’t want to be feeling dead/So, I said that I was leaving.”
Walker is trending worldwide after the highly anticipated midnight release of Life On Earth with fans praising the secluded artist for dropping exactly the sound they needed, when they needed it. “Let It Go,” “Deeper” and “White Tee” featuring NO1-NOAH are already favorites.
“Let it go is the first song for a reason ladies,” she wrote on Twitter when a fan suggested the lyrics have her contemplating texting her ex.
Despite the current pandemic limiting interactions and album release parties in the traditional form, Walker treated fans to an exclusive RSVP-only listening event in Atlanta. The socially-safe UFO Listening Experience, sponsored by Amazon Music, allowed for the songstress’ music to air over a secret radio frequency at a private location in Atlanta, says an official press release.
And in true Walker fashion, she is gearing up for an even more delightful EP release experience. Walker is hosting a “Battle On Earth” laser tag event. Fans will take aim at one another in a five-on-five tournament while vibing out to Walker’s new music (fans will be given protective gear to wear).
Life On Earth has already entered the top 5 chart on iTunes, which is no surprise since Walker’s catalog has over 4.9 billion global streams. With the anticipated success of this EP, we’re sure we can expect a full album from the beloved artist soon. In the meantime, we’ll keep “Let It Go” on repeat.
