After shattering records with her latest album SOS remaining at the number 1 spot of the Hot 100 for 7 weeks, SZA is being recognized by the nation’s top charting organization for her accomplishments.
The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter will be honored with the Woman of the Year Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards. Hosted by Quinta Brunson, this year’s ceremony will continue the Awards’ tradition of recognizing powerhouse female artists, producers songwriters, and musical creators for their contributions to both culture and community.
In addition to SZA, Grammy-nominated rapper Latto will receive the Powerhouse Award, buzzing rapper Doechii will receive the Rising Star Award presented by Honda, and artists such as Ivy Queen, Lana Del Rey, and many more are also set to be celebrated.
“Since she burst onto the scene in 2017, SZA has defied genres and continually released raw, powerful songs which have landed her music on the Billboard charts,” Hannah Karp, Billboard’s Editorial Director said in a statement. “The release of her latest album, SOS has solidified her as a distinct force in contemporary R&B, and catapulted her into superstardom. We can’t wait to honor her as Woman of the Year.”
Past Billboard Woman of the Year honorees include Cardi B, Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Ciara, among others.
The 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards will take place Wednesday, March 1 at the YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, CA.
