Tamar Braxton is walking away from Celebrity Big Brother a winner. The singer and reality television personality is the first Black person to win the reality competition show.
Braxton’s triumph comes after a rough couple of years for her. Since 2016, she has publicly endured severe health issues, a divorce from her ex-husband and Tamar and Vince co-star Vincent Herbert, familial disputes, and an unceremonious firing from the hit FOX daytime talk show The Real.
Like any shrewd contestant, Braxton played to her strengths and relied on empathy to make sure she finished in first place ahead of her last opponent, NFL player Ricky Williams.
“I am a huge fan of this show. I played the game to the best of my ability,” she told the jury, before laying her emotions bare. “I lost my job publicly in front of everybody. I lost my husband…And I almost lost my life,” she reminded them.
Braxton received a $250,000 prize for her efforts. She announced her win with a video on Instagram. The caption read: “And now I get to buy my baby a house. Thank you all!”
Congratulations Tamar!
