No time to rest for Tessa Thompson! The Dear White People and Selma actress was just cast in what has the potential to be her next big hit.
Deadline reports that Thompson, who recently won a Gotham Award for Breakout Actor in Dear White People, will star alongside Fruitvale Station‘s Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming Creed, a spin-off of the revered Rocky.
Jordan will star as the grandson of Apollo Creed, a character from the original 1976 film, who is trained by Stallone’s character, Rocky Balboa. Thompson’s character has not been confirmed.
The film is directed by the award-winning Ryan Coogler, who also oversaw Fruitvale Station in 2013.
