Teyana Taylor knows how to make an entrance!
She slayed the red carpet at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards where her black and white ensemble paid homage to Janet Jackson. Taylor’s white crop top, black pants and short bob — accessorized with her insane abs — resembled the outfit that Jackson wore at the 1995 MTV VMAs.
And the outfits are not the only thing the two have in common. Janet Jackson won the 1995 VMA for Best Chorepgraphy In A Video for her “Scream” video with her brother Michael Jackson. Taylor won that same award this year for her choreography and dancing in Kanye West’s “Fade” video.
This is not the first time Taylor has shown her love for the Rhythm Nation queen. In 2012, she recreated Janet’s iconic topless Rolling Stone cover from 1993.
There is no better compliment than imitation, especially when you are both winning.
