Before Rhythm + Flow crowned it’s very first winner, D Smoke from Inglewood, California, contestant Londynn B got a special treat when her doppelgänger Teyana Taylor and daughter Junie surprised the rapper during rehearsals.
Londynn B has been a fan favorite on the Netflix series, which sees Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I. searching for hip hop’s next big artist.
The rapper and Taylor took a moment to bond before practicing their upcoming performance of “Rose In Harlem,” dishing on motherhood and their road to success.
“Before the show, I was a fan of the song,” Londynn told Taylor. “And a reason I was a fan was for one, we’re both moms. And two: everything that gets done by women is always downplayed and when I heard the song, I felt that.”
Rhythm + Flow is Netflix’s first original music competition program. Guests this season have included late rapper Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, Jhené Aiko, and more.
Although D Smoke took home the top prize, Londynn B didn’t fare so badly. She ended up in third place. Still, D received $250,000 for his win along with the chance to perform on Spotify’s “Rap Caviar” playlist.
“I honestly don’t know what just happened,” the 33-year-old Spanish teacher said during the finale episode, which became available to stream on Wednesday. “I won! It’s a win for everything that I stand for. It’s a win for my family. It’s a win for Inglewood. It’s a win for the West. It’s a win in so many ways. We won!”
