“I want to make reading sexy again,” says Bernadette Cooper in that signature silk, honey and sass voice that introduced many of Klymaxx’s biggest hits. That 80s all-Black, all-girl group has witnessed a resurgence of late with an addictive TV One Unsung episode that is a must-see during its ubiquitous airings.

Cooper continues to tour as Klymaxx Featuring Bernadette Cooper, entertaining folks with classic anthems such as “The Men All Pause,” “Sexy,” “Meeting in the Ladies Room,” and “I Miss You.” These days she’s wearing another hat: author.
Cooper has been feverishly working on a trilogy that runs the gamut from an erotic novella (In A Strange Way), a (gulp!) comedic tale of senior center hanky panky (The Strokes), and an emotional roller coaster centered on a flawed yet fearless woman (A Cry No One Heard). Cooper will offer snippets of each book for discussions that she hopes veers off into discussions that unite Black women.
“Since the beginning of Klymaxx I’ve always been about women’s empowerment,” she says. “This trilogy is an outlet for my creativity, but it is also showcasing strong, smart, dynamic, sexy, funny, and original women.” For information on The Power of Three Books Club visit their Facebook page.
